foundation and goals
The association Beenature-save-the-bees e.V. was founded in 2014 with the aim of giving bees species-appropriate habitats to live in. The species-appropriate honey bee conservation serves the preservation of the species and does not pursue economic interests. All scientific studies regarding the survivability of honey bees - in which the bees were left entirely to their own devices - revealed that they are able to adapt to the respective local situations, as well as the varroa mites within a few years and survive. Only nature - with the totality of its selective processes - is capable of creating survivable genetic material independent of humans, thus ensuring the continuity of the species.
Species-appropriate honey bee conservation is therefore holistically nature-oriented and thus explicitly excludes interventions that have a significant impact on behavior, colony development and biology. In this respect, it clearly distinguishes itself from all other forms of husbandry, especially those of classical beekeeping.

Torben: "In 2016, as a research assistant at the University of Würzburg and under the supervision of Professor Jürgen Tautz, I was the first to be commissioned to research the natural living conditions of honey bees in tree cavities, to compare these with living conditions in boxes and to identify the potential effects on bee health. The resulting findings permanently changed my view of beekeeping. Today, I am ashamed of what I did to the bees in the course of "good beekeeping practice"! This is how I went from being a livestock farmer to a species conservationist! Nowadays we help thousands of people to protect bees instead of exploiting them in production animal husbandry. Every new member ultimately helps to create species-appropriate habitat and spare nectar resources."

What does the association achieve and promote?
The aim is to provide the many swarms of bees and other tree cavity dwellers with a species-appropriate habitat that they have lost in large areas due to the clearing of the forests and thus to give them the best possible basic conditions for survival.
Furthermore, we free bees from all criteria of livestock farming, with the goal of giving them a future independent of humans. It is necessary to allow the millions of years old evolutionary processes again, in order to restore the natural balance to industrial livestock farming and the accompanying genetic erosion. The death of non-adapted individuals or bee colonies is a completely natural and extremely important evolutionary factor. Natural selection means that only the best adapted offspring can survive (class instead of mass!).
